I believe that the responsibility of a teacher is not only to provide subject matter expertise, but also to act as a facilitator to raise students' interest in a subject, to teach students the ways of thinking, and to train students to become effective and independent learners.

In mathematics, detailed and rigorous arguments would easily hinder the understanding of the essential idea behind the scene, and blur the flow of thinking. If a student can put aside the rigour and just go for the ideas, mathematics can be truly enjoyable, fun, and beautiful. So the core of my teaching is to nurture the sense of insight in mathematics.

In providing feedback to students, I give a detailed breakdown of marks for each dimension. Particularly, I point out the various strengths in students' work to encourage their self-efficacy in learning.

I love teaching. I always teach from the bottom of my heart. I don't treat people sitting in the classroom as merely students. I see them as my beloved friends. I respect them and consider their perspectives.

Learning and teaching require that we scramble up and down the ladders of abstraction, between theory and practice, between the ideal that inspires and illuminates and the gritty realities that challenge and frustrate.

I will continue to 'stay hungry' and 'stay foolish' so that I am eager to learn and ready to try new things in T&L in higher education.
